There's no watch but Garmin - a naturist advertisement

I just bought a new watch today. I can only buy a Garmin because of a few reasons - it's the best smart watch with the best features (suitable for me). It has the best GPS system (nobody will dispute this). And this new watch has a button that's very useful. If you are out hiking in a forest and you're suddenly lost, all you have to do is to push a button and it will provide you with a map with directions to help you to retrace your steps back. If Hansel and Gretel had used this Garmin, they wouldn't have been lost in the forest and caught by the evil witch. Plus of course I have an account with Garmin and all my details - my sleep pattern, my exercise details, the routes I have taken and millions of other data that span over many years are all in my Garmin account.

After buying my new Garmin and syncing it with my phone and my old Garmin account, I naturally took a selfie with it and I thought it'd make a good ad for Garmin. Maybe Garmin might come up with some special deal for a diehard fan. But then again, they might feel scandalised if they are not naturist-friendly. LOL

EDIT:  A friend just asked me what happened to my old Garmin. It's still in excellent working order. It's more than 4 years old and technology was more backward then. The new watch has tons of features that the old one doesn't have, naturally. My old one was black and it's tiresome to see a black watch on my wrist for so many years.

My new ladder

My ladder was delivered this morning. I tried climbing it and unlike my previous one, this new ladder is very stable. The label says it can take up to 150kg which is two of me plus a further 20kg.

The purpose of life and other silly questions

Recently, I had a long chat with a clergyman from my church. We were exchanging our views on many things and he suddenly asked me, 'What is the purpose of life?'  Now, I have seen this question bandied about in online debates and the person who is asked the question usually seems at a loss for an answer.

Tilling the soil

I'm loath to call it a garden - I shouldn't sully the good name of a garden with the unkempt jungle that I keep. I've been working hard now that no gardener has been to my house for the past 10 months.

More on ladder safety

In this post last week, I wrote about how I got stranded on the roof of my house. I had gone up the roof on a ladder that was neither tall nor stable enough for the job. The ladder wobbled just as I was trying to get down from the roof and I had to phone a family member for help.

重阳节

Happy Double Ninth Festival or 重阳节!  This is a very old festival and its earliest appearance in writing predates the birth of Christ. The festival bears no significance to most people today because like most ancient festivals, it's steeped in superstition. But what is interesting to me is that most people hike up mountains on this day to balance the preponderance of 'yang' in the 'yin'-'yang' force whatever that may mean to ancient people. A lot of 重阳节 greetings depict scenes of people hiking up a mountain.  I have created the naturist version of the greeting.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

A good friend of mine who has thousands of friends on social networking websites very kindly offered me advice on how not to alienate people and gain more friends. Don't talk about anything controversial! My previous talk about faith on this blog is sure to be viewed as highly controversial. He's also opposed to any talk about naturism. The moment you say you are a naturist, you have created a controversy. Then what can you talk about? Only pleasant things like 'Good morning, my friends!'  I swear he told me that!!!  People must not know your thoughts, your likes and dislikes, your politics, religious view etc because by letting them know these things, you are creating a controversy.

Me and My Faith - ?

I placed a hesitant question mark at the end of the above title because it's hard for me to decide if I have faith or lack it. Religious talk is usually taboo, but hey, this is my personal diary so I'll talk about it.

From my many open statements, most people form the opinion that I am a rational atheist. I avoid talking about faith most of the time but the reality is faith has always been a big thing since the day I was born. I have served the church all my life even as a toddler. But if I am asked if I think God exists, I will have to ask if you want a rational or an emotional answer.

In search of a good ladder

After my brush with death a few days ago when I almost fell off a ladder, I went ladder hunting today.

Just changed the background of this blog

I don't know what you think but I find the dynamic view of this blog a bit hard to navigate. I have changed the format of this blog to something simpler. Hope it works for you.

Google, Only Google!

More than a week ago, a friend sent me this photo which he said was posted on some social networking site and he asked me when and where I took it.

Beware of the ladder!!!

I didn't realise how risky it was when a ladder was not properly used or when the wrong ladder was used until this afternoon when I climbed up an old ladder to get to the roof at the back of my house. I wanted to check the roof gutters to make sure that there was no collection of rain water in which mosquitoes could breed. Everything was fine and after taking a few selfies up on the roof, I was about to climb down the ladder when as soon as my toes touched the top of the ladder, the entire ladder wobbled.
